Boating in Busselton, WA | Boat Ramps, Fishing, Marine Zones + more

Being nested within the sheltered waters of Geographe bay, Busselton is considered one of the meccas for boating enthusiasts in Western Australia.

Different boating activities in Busselton include:

Catching squid in the bay
Heading out to the dunsborough artificial reef for some fishing
Watching whales during the whale migration season. If you’re lucky you can even spot whales off the jetty!
Go salmon fishing during the season (Usually around March-May)
Lay a line of crab nets to catch some blue swimmer crabs, or perhaps try some free diving for them (Be sure to have your dive flag up if you’re doing this)
Take family and friends out for some water skiing (Just this map to see where water skiing is allowed and for designated take off areas)
Take a drive down the coast to Dunsborough and moore up in some of the protected bay such as Meelup and Eagle Bay;
For those into scuba diving you could head over to HMAS Swan and do a wreck dive

Paddle Craft

Due to the calm waters of the Geographe Bay, paddle craft such as canoes, surf skis, paddle boards and kayaks are very popular in the area.

With a number of car parks along the beach, the foreshore has a number of suitable areas to launch. If you want to explore the jetty area then perhaps consider parking and launching to the areas left or right of the jetty. Alternatively, if you looking to just head out into the bay then you also have Abbey or Quindalup boat ramp.
