Bundegi Flats (Exmouth), Western Australia

Note, if you’re heading out to fish the Bundegei flats it’s always recommended to be wearing some type of closed footwear as poisonous fish such as stone fish do occupy the arrear which can be deadly.

To get there head along Murat Road and before you get to Yardie Creek Road and there are a couple of dirt tracks on your right side that will take you down to Bundgei flats. You’ll know you’re at Bundgei flats as there will be a sign advising of a sanctuary zone to the south and the fishing area to the north.

When is a good time to fish the flats?

A good time for fishing the flats in around high tide as fish will come in cutting in and around the flats with the tide. The north area of the flats is a great spots for those looking to get into some Queenfish!

What can you catch at Bundegi Flats?

There are a number of different species that can be caught at Bundegi flats including whiting, bream, mackerel, spangled emperor, trevally and Queenfish.

Can you drive along the Beach at Bundegi Flats?

Yes, you can drive along the beach with a 4WD though it can get pretty boggy so beware of this and also keep an eye on the tides.
