Fishing in Busselton

During the January holidays my son and my grandsons came down from Perth for a visit. With one of the days looking ideal for some inshore fishing, we hooked up the boat and headed out from Port Geograph Marina to do some inshore fishing in Busselton.

After pulling up a nice clear sandy patch we burled up in the hope to catch some decent king gorge whiting or a some decent flathead. After allowing some time for the burley the fish started biting, though the fish species we were targeting were no where to be seen…

To be honest we had the weird catch bag you could think of. Over 2-3 hrs we hooked numerous different species ranging from stone fish to stingrays and everything in between. We even managed to catch a nice size blue manna crab on a hook!

Overall my grandsons had a great couple of hours fishing with many stories to tell their friends and family.

Check out our main Fishing in Busselton page for more information including fishing spots, what you can catch, boat ramp locations and fishing FAQs.

  1. Nice blue mania there! I’m was thinking of heading to Busselton this weekend to do some crabbing. Are they still around down there? (Was looking to head out from Port Geograph Marina)
    Thanks

    1. Yeah still a few though starting to thin out. If you’re heading out of Port Geograph marina head right up the coast… there are a few around the 2-3m mark along that beach area:)
